Venue: Miranda House, Delhi
Date: 05th April, 2023
On April 5th, 2023, the Centre for Disability Research and Training (CDRT), in collaboration with Miranda House’s Women’s Development Cell, organised the ‘AIM – A for Access, I for Inclusion, and M for Mobility’ awareness workshop on disability. The workshop aimed to foster a society that promotes inclusivity and recognizes the potential of every individual, irrespective of their abilities.
The workshop was attended by participants from various backgrounds, including students, faculty, and members of the community. Through a series of sensitization and simulation initiatives, participants engaged in activities designed to provide them with insights into the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities.

One of the key activities of the workshop involved participants being blindfolded and guided through various tasks, such as games and tactile recognition exercises. This activity aimed to help participants understand the experience of navigating the world without sight and to develop empathy towards individuals with visual impairments.

Another important component of the workshop was the sign language exercises, which aimed to raise awareness about the communication barriers faced by individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. Participants were taught basic sign language gestures and were encouraged to communicate with each other using these gestures.
Overall, the ‘AIM – A for Access, I for Inclusion, and M for Mobility’ awareness workshop was a highly impactful and enlightening event. It succeeded in promoting awareness about disabilities, fostering empathy, and breaking down barriers to create a more inclusive society. The workshop’s message of celebrating diversity and ensuring equal opportunities for all resonated strongly with all participants, leaving a lasting impression on everyone involved.
