From 1st June 2023, Centre for Disability Research and Training (CDRT), in collaboration with Saksham Foundation, organised a short-term training course called ‘Prashikshan’ for visually impaired students. The course focused on ‘Creating and Accessing Documents using Assistive Technology’ and was conducted in different batches in English and Hindi. The training aimed to enhance the participants’ skills in creating and accessing documents using assistive technology, promoting inclusivity and accessibility in document creation and access.
Throughout the duration of the programme, participants engaged in intensive training sessions conducted in both English and Hindi, catering to the linguistic preferences of the attendees. The curriculum was thoughtfully designed to cover various aspects of creating and accessing documents using assistive technology, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience for all participants.
Under the guidance of experienced trainers, participants delved into the intricacies of assistive technology, learning practical skills that would empower them to navigate the digital landscape with confidence and efficiency. From mastering screen reader software to utilising voice commands for document creation, participants gained valuable insights and hands-on experience in leveraging technology to overcome barriers and enhance accessibility.
The programme fostered a supportive and inclusive learning environment, where participants had the opportunity to share their experiences, learn from each other, and collaborate on projects. As the training programme concluded, participants emerged with newfound knowledge, skills, and a sense of empowerment.
