On 15 October, 2023, Centre for Disability Research and Training in collaboration with Prayas: The Enabling Unit of Kirori Mal College conducted the sensitization workshop, ‘Anubhav’ moderated by highly acclaimed, Dr. Krishna Warrior from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. The workshop that transpired on the occasion of the White Cane Day, commenced at 2.30 pm in the Seminar Hall of Kirori Mal College. It was enriched by the presence of the Convenor of Prayas, truly esteemed Professor Someshwar Sati.

The workshop started off with Dr. Someshwar Sati extending a warm welcome to tDr. Krishna Warrier and all the attendees present. Dr. Warrier initiated the workshop by an introduction to ‘Disability’ and the myths surrounding it. The workshop consisted of numerous team building exercises that focused upon inculcating empathy, a problem-solving mindset, team spirit and most importantly a deeper understanding of disability within the participants. The participants were required to blindfold themselves through the entirety of the workshop and directed to perform certain tasks which included, identifying objects as a team, locating and relocating your location etc.

The workshop drew towards its epilogue through a Question- Answer session where the participants were given the stage to pose their questions to the visually impaired students present. Their curious questions were answered with much enthusiasm and positive feedback. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Someshwar Sati where he underlined the importance of understanding and empathizing with people with disability. This informative and educational workshop by CDRT was a successful event that sent their participants home with quenched curiosities and brimming with knowledge.
